WEEK 5 RECAPS
Schmitt Sets MVABL Win Mark

With games rained out in Monroe and downtown Dayton, and even half the games at AIA, a few games did however get played.
The Rangers pulled out an 11-10 extra-inning win over the Athletics at AIA. Ben Schubert launched a two-run HR in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Jonmarc Lippincott drew a bases-loaded walk in extras for the winning run. Shawn Schmitt tossed a scoreless 8th inning to pick up the win, his 32nd career victory in the MVABL, which breaks the previous league record for wins.
The Redlegs put themselves in prime position to jump back in the Who's Hot List this week with a pair of wins over the top-ranked Indians at Northwestern H.S. Jacob Robinson, getting his first ever start in the 3-hole, connected on his first career grand slam in a 15-10 win. The Redlegs followed that up with a 4-3 victory.
The Shockers jumped out on Blue Jays starter Shawn Haffner for 7 runs in the first inning. But the Jays countered with a pitching move, bringing in Will Howard who pitched shutout ball for the remainder of the game, striking out 10 batters in relief. Brian Bay added four hits and four RBIs for the Jays, who have now won three straight.
