5/16/10: Week 7 Highlights

   On Tuesday night June 1st, the Beavecreek Sox got a late home run from Nate Bowles to squeak past the South Dayton Slammers 5-4, knocking the Slammers out of the top spot in the Buckeye Division for the first time this season.
   Three doubleheader sweeps highlighted Sunday's action. Redlegs righty Taylor Guntle kept his rookie record on the mound without blemish as he improved to 3-0 with an 8-2 win over the Shockers. Trailing 6-3 in game two, the Redlegs put up 7 runs in the top of the 7th to come from behind and sweep the Shockers 10-8. John Long finished 4-for-7 in the twinbill with 4 RBIs for the Redlegs. The Rangers took a pair from the Royals to move into a tie atop the Miami Division with the Thunder. Rangers third baseman Robert Riley his two home runs in the first game, and Clint Wolf added his third HR of the season in a 8-1 victory. Jonathan Silverman became the league's first 4-game winner. Rangers' rookie Joe Becker picked up his first win with a complete game 5-3 win in game two. The Astros swept past the Cardinals 14-7 and 8-7 at West Carrollton. Gregg Foster doubled, drove in 2 runs and picked up the win in game one. Matt Addis pitched 4 innings and struck out 9 in game two. Tony Duncan contributed six RBIs in the doubleheader for the 'Stros. In the final game of the day, the Sox run-ruled the Dragons 19-7.
